Short Courses FAQ
How many students do you have on each course?
Eight maximum on most courses with the exception of buying and drying
wood which is not centred at the school and has up to fifteen.
Are these courses for beginners?
Unless stated otherwise, the courses are designed to give absolute beginners an intensive foundation in their chosen craft. The syllabuses
can seem daunting to beginners but I must emphasise
that these are not leisure interest, ‘Summer School’ or evening
class type courses. Students attending my courses are
either keen amateurs, career changers or practising crafts people looking
to learn new techniques or fill in the gaps
left in their previous training.
Where is your school?
In the south eastern corner of England. The nearest large town
is Ashford, Kent. Nearest village is Bethersden. To see the exact location
go to the Multimap link below.

Your courses seem to fill very quickly, why do you not programme them
more frequently?
In addition to programming short courses, at least five months each
year are taken up with commissions for private clients.
Can I visit the school to meet you and discuss what I see as my training
needs?
By all means, please ring to make an appointment.
Are there any qualifications?
No, not on such a short course. If you require one,I will give
you an attendance certificate.
What are your tuition times?
9.30 - 10.30 11.00 - 12.30 14.00 - 15.30 16.00 - 17.00
What are the workshop hours?
On the first day you are asked to arrive by 8.30 for a 9.00 a.m. start,
you then have access until 8.00 p.m. Following access times are 8.00
a.m.
to 8.00 p.m. until the last day when the course finishes at 4.30. p.m. I have seen other courses very similar to yours in title
and content, do you teach at these schools/ colleges or did you design
the courses for them?
It is inevitable that ex-students and colleges for which I designed
courses over the last 25 years use my titles and copy my syllabus. By
trying to imitate these well designed, successful courses they give more
credit to the quality of the training you will receive at The Little
Surrenden Workshops.
Kind regards
Bruce
