Cabinet Making Part 1
Tool Tuning and Tool Preparation

Duration:
4 Days (includes 2 days free use of facilities)
Location: The Little Surrenden Workshops

General Course Content

The tradition and quality of 'English Furniture Making' is well known and admired worldwide. Bruce Luckhurst has designed this special intensive foundation course to guide students along a route to accurate, enjoyable woodwork.

Students will learn how to sharpen tools to professional standards and select new or second-hand tools that are well engineered. From this understanding of the importance of tool technology and the acquisition of tool tuning skills you will experience the pleasure of working wood to a high degree of accuracy with less effort.

Please do not buy tools for this course, bring any tools that you may have in whatever condition. Bruce will advise you as to the suitability of the tools you have, suggest new tools which have the qualities that a professional craftsperson needs and either sell or lend you enough tools to tune during the course. Cabinet Making Part Two is programmed 2 days after Part One. You are welcome to use the school facilities free of charge (no tuition) to finish preparing tools for Part Two.
